MANJIMUP PRIMARY SCHOOL
We want children at MPS to learn, to lead and to make a difference
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF - VALUES
The actions of the members of the Manjimup Primary School community are guided by our commitment to the following values:-
Cooperation – We support each other and collaborate to achieve common goals.
Attitude to Learning– We have a positive approach to learning, believing that all have the capacity to learn. We encourage the setting and achievement of high standards of personal excellence.
Respect and Care- We treat all individuals with care. Our relationships are based on trust and mutual respect for self and others.
Equity & Opportunity– We support a learning environment where all members feel valued and safe. We recognise the needs of each person and are dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for all.
Responsibility- We accept and display responsibility for ourselves and others in learning, social, civic and environmental situations. Class rules consistent with these values are developed by each teacher and their students at the beginning of the school year.
Manjimup Primary School would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, of Elders past and present, on which this event takes place.
We respectfully acknowledge the past and present traditional custodians of this land on which we are meeting, the people. It is a privilege to be standing on country.
We also acknowledge the contributions of Aboriginal Australians and non-Aboriginal Australians to the education of all children and people in this country we all live in and share together – Australia.

SCHOOL FEATURES
Crowding is not an issue at Manjimup Primary School. We have an on-going plan to improve the play spaces for all of our students, through providing unique and stimulating playground facilities.
We are fortunate to provide our primary students with their own large grassed oval area, providing ample space for all to play multiple games and burn some energy at any given time.
Basketball and tennis courts are a big hit with the students.
For those rainy days there are large undercover play areas, providing students with games and recreational activities for all ages.
We have recently completed our Nature Play playground, encouraging students to be active, creative and imaginative through an engaging environment of natural products and materials.
In total, we currently have four playground areas that allow children to develop fundamental movement skills and have fun with each other during recess and lunch breaks, with a fifth playground recently opened in 2017.
Within a wireless Apple learning environment where iPads and CDM Laptops have been deployed across all years and learning areas, Manjimup Primary School has opened the doors to a state of the art and modern learning environment. Led by highly skilled and committed educators, children are provided with daily opportunities to engage with powerful digital learning tools allowing them to create, collaborate, communicate and discover.
At present 60% of students bring their own iPads while the remaining students share 150 iPads and 30 laptops on a daily basis. Teachers are harnessing the enthusiasm and eagerness of students by providing learning opportunities driven by the Australian Curriculum. Students are using the devices to search, create, produce, celebrate, demonstrate and reinforce their learning. They are excited, enthused and highly engaged. In a world where screens entertain at home; school is using screens to educate.
The iPad is transforming the way teachers teach and has changed the learning landscape. At Manjimup Primary School teachers are maximizing the opportunities provided by the digital technologies provided to them. Increased accessibility to instant and global information with high levels of student engagement and instant reinforcement; students are embracing the technology as ‘just the way it is’.
With a strong appetite to harness this enthusiasm even further and allow children opportunities to demonstrate their individual strengths whilst teachers develop individual programs, a sustainable 1:1 program is required.
At Manjimup Primary School we believe in learning through play and having fun. Our classes are fitted with the latest technology allowing teachers to educate students in different fun ways, an alternative to the traditional pen and paper.
At Manjimup Primary School we aspire to continue growing our state of the art facilities with innovative and enjoyable ways students like to learn in the classroom catering for the needs of the 21st century.
We value the importance behind effective teachers is the ones who personalize the learning for their students. In the middle school MPS have created flexible learning environments in their phase of learning.
Through much research we were able to create a zone that “rethinks schooling” allowing students the opportunity to learn best using the Flexible learning spaces which are designed to be multidisciplinary and communal spaces. These can be configured in a number of ways for specific learning experiences. This means they provide opportunities for people to work together in new ways.
Most recently our Director General Sharyn O’Neill was quoted to say: ‘My goal is for every school to be characterised by an ethos of high performance and high care’.
We believe we are achieving this at Manjimup Primary School.
Students at MPS also engage in a large number of additional activities ran throughout the year including:
- Music instrument lessons
- Sports lessons and swimming lessons
- Choir
- Inter-school sports (Years 3 to 6)
- Talent Competition
- Mathematics Challenge
- Choir/Performing Arts
- Numerous groups visit to entertain & educate students (sports & shows performed)
- Selection trials for representative sports
